Free telephone consultation
I provide a free telephone consultation. This will give us an opportunity to talk about your current situation, your therapeutic goals and expectation, gather some background information and answer any questions you might have. It will allow us to determine if the services I provide are a good fit for you.
INSURANCE
I am a provider on some insurance companies and am happy to discuss that with you when you call.
Every insurance agreement is different. It is important to have the following questions answered before your first appointment.
- Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
- Does my plan cover for using an out of network provider and how much does it cover?
- How many sessions a year does my plan cover?
- Do I need an authorization code to begin therapy? Will I receive a written notification of the authorization?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- What is my co pay?
If you choose to use your mental health outpatient insurance coverage it is important to be aware that the insurance company will require me to provide them with certain information. I will ask you to sign an authorization to release information. I will be required to report a mental health diagnosis, dates of service, and my fee. They may also ask me to give them detailed background information, current signs and symptoms that you may be experiencing and treatment plan information. Additionally, some managed care companies may dictate the number of sessions allowed and request written treatment summaries.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Should you be unable to attend a session, I appreciate receiving a 24 hour notice cancellation. Otherwise, you will be charged for the session missed. Insurance cannot be billed for a missed session and you will be responsible for the full fee.
CONFIDENTIALITY
As a client in a therapeutic relationship, you have the right to expect and receive a professional relationship in our work together.
The State of Colorado and the National Association of Social Workers code of ethics, in general, protects the confidentiality between a client and a psychotherapist as the nature of therapy relies on the development of trust in the work between client and therapist.
However, there are some situations in which your therapist is required by law to release information you have disclosed to assure your safety and the safety of others.
These exceptions are:
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself
- A judge court orders information to be released
Should any of the above circumstances occur, I make every effort to discuss the situation first with my clients so that their rights to privacy are understood and protected. It is essential to maintain a collaborative and trusting relationship and I will do whatever is within my ability to keep your information safe and private.
I welcome any questions that you might have regarding any of the policies discussed above.
